Up-cycling crafts

A big thank you to Jen who came in and helped our tamariki make a catching game out of plastic bottles, and another thanks to Angela for coming in and helping our tamariki to make Jelly fish out of plastic bottles. The kids loved these projects and we will be showcasing these creations on our day of action coming up on Friday.

Athletics

This week we have been training for our upcoming athletics day. We started our training with long jump.

For some of us it was our very first time doing long jump and we were a bit scared. But, after a couple of tries, we grew our confidence and really enjoyed this new learning.

It was so much fun running up to the pit and then leaping in.

What is your favourite sport to do on athletics day?

Beach Clean Up – Kaitiakitanga In Action

Ngā mihinui and massive thanks to our awesome tamariki and parents who came out to help do a beach clean up last week. We managed to collect 4 sacks full of plastic in between North Beach and the Pier. Well done! Our marine environment will be healthier thanks to you. Remember, microplastics or very small pieces of plastic can harm wild life too, as these pieces are small enough for animals to swallow. Once swallowed, these small pieces of plastic stay in the animals stomach until it dies. So no matter how small the piece of rubbish might be, always make sure you place it in the rubbish bin.
